Yoga for PEriMenopause & Menopause

Are you in your late 30s or 40s? Are your body and emotions shifting and changing? Perhaps you are experiencing signs of menopause? The average of menopause is 52, yet few women realise the change can begin much earlier and is called peri-menopause. The medical marker for menopause is when your periods – menses – have ceased for 12 months, or two years if you’re going through early menopause. Nevertheless, symptoms can often continue for some time after.

The hormonal, physical and psychological changes from peri- through post-menopause can be destabilising. As such, this phase of life is often full of uncertainty. If you experience irregular and erratic periods, pelvic floor imbalances or other symptoms such as insomnia, night sweats, anxiety, low mood and low energy, you may feel like you’ve lost your footing. Perhaps you even feel your body is failing you? That it’s harder to maintain emotional equilibrium or that your energy fluctuates unpredictably each day, each week? Or maybe you’re just a bit off-kilter, you don’t feel like your normal self?

Though it may feel difficult and unmanageable at times, don’t worry. This is temporary. It will pass – and you will emerge feeling stronger and knowing yourself better than ever before. During this time you may begin to re-evaluate your life, reflect on what has passed, and realign with a deeper sense of self. Menopause is a potent and positive opportunity to step into your clarity, wisdom and power like never before.

Yoga can help you manage stress, the first thing to address when there is hormonal upheaval. It can also help keep you fit, healthy and strong while you adapt to fluctuating energy levels, and provide you with invaluable tools to help you rest smarter and sleep better. Most of all, yoga can help you develop a sense of ease and stability through this transitional time while empowering you to listen to your needs, desires, hopes and dreams as you move into the next phase of your life.

Yoga will give you the internal space and stillness to feel more alive and energised through the change, and to explore different ways to support menopause, whether you decide to opt for natural approaches, hormone replacement therapy, or a combination of both. Whatever your experience of menopause, yoga will help
you to relax into the experience, embrace the wisdom of the change, and decide what’s right for you.

Yoga for periMenopause & Menopause workshop: healing & empowering practices for women in change.

This 3hr workshop offers a safe, warm and welcoming space in which to explore your experience of peri/menopause, retreat in the company of other women at the same life stage, learn positive approaches to menopause and enjoy essential yoga practices that you can easily integrate into daily life, whether you are new to yoga or have a regular practice.
